THE WEATHER HEATS UP AT MUGELLO 🇮🇹

Elf Marc VDS Racing Team's Tony Arbolino finished fourth in the Italian GP after his grit and determination in the battle for the home podium.

Heavy rain overnight left the spectacular 5.2-kilometer Mugello circuit wet, with dry sections for the morning warm-up.

Fortunately, the track was completely dry when the riders started for the 21-lap Moto2 race, which began at 12:20 p.m. local time, with an ambient temperature of 21 degrees.

The 21-year-old Italian, started the race in a very sensational way starting from eighth place on the grid, managing to gain four positions in the first lap, and then reaching fourth place in the leading group.

However, a mistake on lap 14 dropped Tony from second to fifth place, where he found himself involved in a fight with Sam Lowes.

The Italian, in fact, then had to serve a Long Lap Penalty on the penultimate lap due to the incident with his teammate. Despite the weather, however, the talented young Italian managed to finish the race in fourth place.

Tony now heads to his second land, Barcelona, focused and only 25 points behind the leader.

🎙️Tony:
"I'm happy with the result, but I can't be happy with the end of the race.

First of all, I want to apologize to Sam and the team for what happened, because I didn't want to hurt anyone.

It was a long and intense race, and at the time of the accident it was difficult for me to control the bike and I did everything I could to avoid falling and taking us off the track.

But unfortunately, the contact caused Sam to fall.

It's a real shame, because after Le Mans we had both taken an important step forward.

Now we just have to look ahead to next week in Barcelona and prepare to give our best."
